No insignia, no date window, no distractions. The Marathon Steel Navigator WW194001SS-0801 distills the pilot's watch down to what matters: a sterile black dial, tritium illumination and a 41mm steel case on an 11-inch ballistic nylon strap.

Sterile dials have a long tradition in military watchmaking, and this one shows why. With the face free of government or unit markings, the bold white indices and hands get all the room, and the watch reads as cleanly at a glance as it does on close inspection. Tritium gas tubes on those markers and hands glow without any need for light charging, so the same legibility holds at midnight.

The SSNAV traces its design to 1986, when Marathon developed the Navigator with Kelly Air Force Base for U.S. Air Force pilots, and the steel version returned in 2023 after a long absence. Today it runs on the ETA F06.412 PreciDrive, a thermocompensated Swiss quartz movement accurate to about ten seconds per year. The 316L stainless case stays slim at 11mm, a screw-down crown secures 10 ATM water resistance, and the 90-click bi-directional bezel carries a 12-hour scale for a second time zone. The black one-piece ballistic nylon strap is built to the MIL-S-46383B standard and keeps the watch secure even if a spring bar lets go.
