FKM is a fluoroelastomer that shrugs off sweat, salt and sunscreen far better than ordinary silicone, and Marathon's 3-piece kit is made in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the same Swiss watchmaking town where the watches are assembled. It dries quickly, rinses clean and pairs naturally with the 10 ATM water resistance of the 316L steel case, which is sealed by a screw-down crown. In other words, this is a Steel Navigator you can take into the water without a second thought.

The Arctic white sterile dial keeps things uncluttered and easy to read in bright sun, while tritium gas tubes illuminate the hands, markers and bezel pip through the night. Timing comes from the ETA F06.412 PreciDrive, a thermocompensated Swiss quartz movement good for around ten seconds of deviation per year. And the bi-directional 12-hour bezel, part of the design Marathon developed with Kelly Air Force Base in 1986, makes tracking home time from a beach halfway around the world easy.
