Cold water, snow glare and short winter days are the Arctic JDD's natural habitat. Marathon reference WW194021SS-0530 combines a white Arctic dial with the 46mm Jumbo Day/Date automatic diver and a black 3-piece rubber strap kit that stays flexible in the cold.

The white dial is there for a reason: in bright light reflecting off snow or ice, dark numerals on white are the quickest read. Through the long nights of winter, tritium gas tubes on the hands and markers take over, glowing without any charging. Big day and date windows keep the calendar in view, with an English/French day wheel reflecting Marathon's Canadian design.

The rubber strap kit, made from FKM in La Chaux-de-Fonds, wraps easily over a base layer and shrugs off salt, slush and snowmelt. The 46mm 316L stainless steel case is 18mm thick, with a screw-down crown protected by guards and a 300-meter rating. Its oversized unidirectional bezel, ratcheting through 120 clicks with a MaraGlo pip, was designed to work with gloves, which makes it especially handy in winter. A Sellita SW220 automatic with 26 jewels, Incabloc protection and about 41 hours of reserve keeps time, and a domed sapphire crystal guards the white face.
