The second chapter of the Oris and Cervo Volante partnership is all about warmth. Oris describes the dial of this Oris X Cervo Volante as a burnt sunset gradient, deep orange glowing at the center and darkening toward the edge, and it is one of the most autumnal faces you can put on a wrist.

It complements a mahogany brown strap hand-crafted by Cervo Volante in the Swiss Alps from sustainably sourced, naturally tanned deer leather. The hides come from wild deer culled for population control and would otherwise be wasted, and the strap keeps the natural marks of the animal’s life, so yours will not look like anyone else’s. Oris presents the project as part of its Change for the Better commitment.

Underneath the color, it is the Big Crown Pointer Date, a design that dates back to 1938: an oversized crown, a fluted bezel and a pointer hand that circles the dial to show the date. This 40mm version is 12.2mm thick and runs on the Oris 754-1 automatic with a 41-hour power reserve, visible through a mineral glass caseback window.
