Some dive watches are drawn to look rugged; the Oris Aquis Date 43.5mm was engineered to be rugged and then refined until it looked effortless. In blue on its steel bracelet, it is the full-size Aquis many collectors still consider the definitive version: broad on the wrist, sharply legible, and rated to 300 meters.

Reference 01 733 7789 4135-07 8 23 04PEB uses a multi-piece steel case whose lugs flow straight into the bracelet, a unidirectional bezel with a blue ceramic insert that resists scratches and fading, and a screw-in crown protected by tapered blocks on either side. Under the double-domed sapphire crystal, the blue dial carries large luminous indices and a date at six. Power comes from the Oris Calibre 733-1, an automatic based on the Sellita SW 200-1, with 41 hours of reserve and Oris’s red rotor on display.

At 43.5mm it has real presence, which suits larger wrists and anyone who wants a true tool watch that still cleans up for dinner. Oris, independent and Swiss since 1904, built the Aquis line around exactly that kind of versatility.
