Cervo Volante is a small Swiss company that makes leather goods from the skins of wild red deer culled under Switzerland’s population-control programs, hides that would otherwise go to waste. The skins are naturally tanned, and the natural marks a deer collects during its life are kept rather than hidden, so every dark brown strap is a little different. Oris brought the partnership into its Change for the Better program, and the result here is a 38mm Big Crown Pointer Date with a gradient blue dial inspired by Alpine colors.
The design follows the 1938 original: a large crown for easy setting, a fluted bezel and a pointer hand that tracks the date around the dial edge. A see-through mineral glass caseback shows the Oris 754 automatic, with a 38-hour power reserve.
