In the early 2000s, Canadian Search and Rescue Technicians strapped on a Marathon SAR-D, the watch that started Marathon's SAR dive line. The Marathon 36mm OSAR-D, reference WW194026SS-2001-KIT, revives that "Original Search and Rescue with Date" in a compact Swiss automatic dive watch with a black dial and stainless steel bracelet.

Rescue work leaves no room for a watch that fails, and the tools SAR Techs carry have to perform in water, cold and darkness. Marathon re-engineered the OSAR-D and relaunched it in 2024, keeping the spirit of the original while upgrading the details that matter: large geometric indices for fast reading, MaraGlo luminous treatment on the indices, hands and bezel pip, and a date at 3 o'clock under a cyclops magnifier. The 36mm version extends that heritage to operators and enthusiasts with smaller wrists.

The build is classic Marathon SAR: brushed 316L stainless steel, a sapphire crystal, a screw-down crown flanked by guards, 300 meters of water resistance and an oversized unidirectional bezel with 120 clicks. A Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement with Incabloc shock protection beats inside. This listing includes a stainless steel bracelet, giving the black-dial OSAR-D a solid, all-steel look.
