Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical x Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4: The Watch Captain Price Wears

The Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical 38mm x Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4, reference H69469930, appears on Captain Price's wrist in the game and on retailer shelves at the same time, for $795. That simultaneity is the appeal, and Hamilton has now done enough of these to have genuinely figured out the format.

Film collaborations give you a watch someone wore in a movie. Gaming collaborations give you something slightly different, and more interesting: a watch you can wear while playing as the character wearing it.

The Character Logic Actually Holds Up

Here is the detail that lifts this above a logo exercise.

Hamilton says the design draws on the General Service watches it supplied to the British military. Captain Price served with the SAS before becoming a central figure in Task Force 141. So the watch on his wrist is derived from the tradition of watches the British armed forces actually issued.

That is a considered piece of work. Plenty of collaborations pick a model because it photographs well next to the key art. This one picked a model because of who the character is, and the result is a watch that makes sense in the fiction and on its own.

A Field Watch Gone Dark

The execution keeps the Khaki Field Mechanical's proportions intact and changes the finish completely.

The 38mm steel case is coated in black PVD and sandblasted, which kills reflection and gives the whole watch a matte, low-visibility quality. At 9.5mm thick with a 47mm lug-to-lug, it is one of the most wearable field watches available at any price, and the dark treatment suits the format.

The dial is black with a heavy grain, which does real work here. A flat black dial under a black case can look like a void. The texture gives it depth and keeps the watch from disappearing into itself.

The Call of Duty Details

The branding is threaded in rather than bolted on:

  • The 4 o'clock numeral is set in the Modern Warfare 4 logo font, which is a smart place to hide an Easter egg because it reads as a design quirk until you know

  • Yellow accents pulled directly from the game's logo

  • The caseback carries the engraved Modern Warfare soundwave, one of the most recognisable audio signatures in gaming

  • A khaki green textile strap with a black PVD pin buckle

Nothing on the front says Call of Duty. Someone who does not play will read this as a blacked-out field watch with a yellow accent, which is exactly the right outcome for a watch you might wear to work.

The Movement Deserves a Mention

Inside is Hamilton's H-50, and the specification is strong for the money.

It is hand-wound, built on the ETA 2801 with the long-running architecture from the Powermatic 80 family, beating at 21,600 vph with an 80-hour power reserve and a Nivachron balance spring for magnetic resistance.

Eighty hours from a manual movement is genuinely generous. Wind it on Friday and it is still running Monday morning. And there is something fitting about a hand-wound movement in a field watch: it is the one interaction that keeps you involved with the watch daily, which suits a piece built around a character who lives by preparation.

Sapphire with anti-reflective coating and 50 metres of water resistance round it out.

Hamilton Has Built a Real Category Here

This follows last year's Khaki Field Auto for Black Ops 7, and before that collaborations with Far Cry 6 and Resident Evil Requiem, alongside the brand's long list of film work including the Murph from Interstellar.

Very few brands have committed to screen culture the way Hamilton has, and fewer still have done it without cheapening the underlying product. Every one of these has been a real Hamilton with a real movement at a real price, rather than a licensing exercise dressed as a watch.

The Short Version

Thirty-eight millimetres, 9.5mm thick, sandblasted black PVD, an 80-hour hand-wound movement, sapphire crystal, and a set of game references subtle enough to wear anywhere, for $795.

Whether you have logged a thousand hours in Verdansk or have never picked up a controller, this works as a blacked-out field watch on its own merits. The Captain Price connection is a bonus for the people who want it and invisible to everyone else, which is the highest compliment you can pay a collaboration like this.

For the standard version of this same watch, Watch Gang carries the Khaki Field Mechanical, and the full collection covers the wider field watch category across a range of price points.
