The black-dial Mido Ocean Star Tribute is a retro diver for people who prefer understatement. Its deep black dial and black bezel ring give it the purposeful look of a 1960s skin diver’s watch, while the movement inside is thoroughly modern.

Mido designed the Tribute to celebrate 75 years of the Ocean Star collection, borrowing from its own 1960s divers: a high-polish case with straight lugs, pointed crown guards, a domed box sapphire crystal and a narrow rotating bezel with a luminous pearl at 12. The dial uses flat diamond-cut hands and luminous indexes, with an orange seconds hand as a subtle signature and a day-date window at 3 o’clock. The automatic Caliber 80, derived from the ETA C07.621, runs at 3 Hz and offers an 80-hour reserve, enough to bridge a weekend off the wrist. A polished starfish decorates the screw-down back.

It comes on a steel multi-link bracelet with a folding clasp and diving extension, with an extra leather strap included so it can shift from beach to dinner.
