The bilingual day wheel reflects Marathon's Canadian roots. The JDD, also known as the Large Bilingual Diver's Automatic, belongs to the Search and Rescue family that Marathon developed to meet Canadian Government requirements, and in a bilingual country a two-language calendar is simply practical. You select the language you prefer when setting the day, and the large window shows it clearly beside the date.

The watch around that calendar is serious equipment. A 46mm 316L stainless steel case, 18mm thick, holds the Sellita SW220 automatic day-date movement with 26 jewels, Incabloc shock protection and about 41 hours of reserve. Its screw-down crown sits between crown guards, and water resistance is 30 ATM, or 300 meters. Up top, a domed sapphire crystal covers a black dial with tritium gas tubes on the indices and hands. The oversized unidirectional bezel ratchets through 120 clicks and carries a MaraGlo pip. A stainless steel bracelet gives this big diver a solid, balanced feel.
