In the early 2000s, Canadian Search and Rescue Technicians strapped on a Marathon SAR-D. The Marathon 41mm OSAR-D, short for Original Search and Rescue with Date, brings that watch back in re-engineered form, and reference WW194006SS-2001 presents it on a rubber strap, the way a working diver would wear it.
Marathon relaunched the OSAR-D in 2024, keeping the character that made the original distinctive. Its Type I dial uses large geometric indices that are easy to tell apart at a glance, and the date sits at 3 o'clock beneath a 1.5x cyclops magnifier. Illumination comes from MaraGlo, Marathon's photoluminescent lume, applied to the indices, the hands and the bezel pip, where it charges in light and glows for hours afterward. The case is brushed 316L stainless steel, 41mm across and 13.5mm thick, sealed to 300 meters by a screw-down crown with guards.
A Swiss Sellita SW200-1 automatic with Incabloc shock protection powers the watch, and the 120-click unidirectional bezel is oversized for gloved hands, just as Canadian Government search and rescue requirements demanded. On rubber, the OSAR-D feels light, water-ready and true to its roots.
