Rubber gives the Grey Maple a more casual, active personality than the bracelet version. Marathon's 3-piece kit is made from FKM rubber in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, and it handles water, sweat and cold without complaint. The watch beneath it is unchanged: a brushed 316L case good to 300 meters, a screw-down crown with guards, sapphire crystal and a unidirectional bezel oversized for gloves, which matters when the water is cold enough to call for them.

The GSAR was designed to Canadian Government search and rescue requirements, and the maple leaf ties this edition to that origin.
