Using the bezel as a GMT takes only a moment. Turn it in either direction until the numeral above the hour hand matches the time back home; local time stays on the dial and home time reads from the bezel. The date at 4:30 helps when overnight flights scramble your sense of the calendar. This feature has been central to the Navigator since Marathon designed it with Kelly Air Force Base for U.S. Air Force pilots in 1986.

The rubber strap rounds out the travel kit.
