Isambard Kingdom Brunel (1806 –1859) was an English mechanical and civil engineer who is considered one of the most prolific figures in 19th Century England.

Brunel changed the face of the English landscape with his groundbreaking designs and ingenious constructions. Brunel built dockyards, the Great Western Railway, and a series of important bridges and tunnels. His designs revolutionised public transport and modern engineering.

In tribute to his work, the Westminster Brunel timepiece from Earnshaw watches is a combination of similarly ingenious construction bearing industrial style and design.
